Guest house in Guildford, Western Australia - Fauntleroy House is one of Guildford's gracious old homes of generous proportions, circa 1902 featuring rambling verandas, comfortably appointed rooms, ensuites, a swimming pool, & surrounded by gardens.
There is ample and convenient car parking available in the grounds. It is an easy walk to restaurants, hotels, shops. Guildford is the gateway to the beautiful Swan Valley and the wineries are only a few minutes drive.
All daily rates include a deluxe continental breakfast with homemade jams and conserves. Cooked gourmet breakfast is available and for that special occasion you can have Silver Service “High Tea” served in the dining room on arrival.

Holiday in Guildford, Western Australia: Old Guildford town was settled in 1829 and is situated between the Swan and Helena rivers. Guildford is quite small boasts four Hotels, a good variety of restaurants, and interesting shops. There are many enjoyable walks.
This is the gateway to the Swan Valley with it's many wineries that produce a wide range of excellent wines. To accompany the wine there is a gourmet food trail.
Not only is the Swan Valley beautiful but it produces a wonderful selection of fresh produce. Most of the wineries have restaurants & cafes that have excellent menus.Just a few of the Swan Valley attractions include, Golf, Horse riding, Galleries, River Cruises, Kayaking, or "The Maze".
Guildford is just 20 mins drive to Perth's CBD and 10 mins to the airport. Trains & Buses are also handy.
Things to do: If Golf is your game the picturesque "Rosehill" public golf course is just 5 mins drive, an you feel like you are in the countryside. The internationally known golf course "The Vines" is just 15 mins away.
Tennis courts may also be booked, in the heart of Guildford. On the right weekend you may catch a game of Polo at "The Kings Meaow" polo fields.
Of course international cricket is also played at "Lilac Hill" cricket grounds on the banks of the Swan river.
History of Fauntleroy House: Fauntleroy House was built by William George Ellen Amelia Withnell. William George was the eldest son of John Withnell & Emma Mary nee' Hancock (relative of the famous Lang Hancock). John & Emma sailed north in 1864 with household, cattle etc. on the "Sea Ripple", landed at Cossack, and from Roebourne started Mt. Welcome and Hillside stations. Emma Mary was the first white woman in the Nth West.
There is a museum in Roebourne, about their life there. The home was originally built as William & Ellen's "Town House" when they came down from Hillside Station. They had 11 children. The Withnells lived in the home until the death of Ellen Amelia on 2/12/1954 aged 83 years.
The house has been extensively restored to resemble its former glory and was purchased by Michelle and Steve Bolt in September 2004 who have furnished it with antiques recreating a classic olde world charm.
