Vacation in Yarmouth, Cape Cod: Incorporated in 1637, Yarmouth is one of the oldest towns on Cape Cod, retaining the charm of an early New England coastal community. Geographically, the town encompasses both the north and south side of the Cape, each area having its own flavor. On the north side, Yarmouthport has historic homes, antique shops, and fine restaurants, many of them on the tree-lined, historic Route 6A. On the south side, South Yarmouth offers shopping, family fun and entertainment, and many family-type restaurants.
Yarmouth has 15 fresh and saltwater beaches on Nantucket Sound. Seagull Beach is the town’s largest, and the Bass River area has some fine beaches. Salt-water fishing boats leave from South Yarmouth.
Summer concerts are held on Monday nights at the outdoor band-shell at the Mattacheese Middle School, and the Yarmouth Seaside Festival is an annual event held in October.
