Vacation home on North Captiva, Florida - features an inside spiral starcase leading to a third story "sky lounge" with wet bar, refrigerator, satellite TV and 3 decks providing a 360 degree view of the island.
Birdland is located on the runway at the North end of beautiful Upper Captiva Island. This home has the traditional island "upside-down" floor plan, with the
bedrooms on the bottom floor and the living areas on the top. This floor plan allows you to have panoramic views from the Gulf to the Bay while in the living areas of our home.
Birdland has four levels, the entry area features a large outdoor heated shower and cart barn which houses fishing tackle, golf cart and bicycles. As you go to the next level and enter the house you will find three bedrooms and two full baths with a "tub for two" in the master suite. This level also includes a full size washer and dryer and separate zone A/C for this floor. The main floor is a beautifully decorated living area with a large screened porch, fully equipped kitchen, bar, dining table and half bath. Our home sleeps 8 comfortably - 3 bedrooms; 1king, queen and 2 twin-size beds), a queen futon in the "sky lounge" and a pull-out sofa in the living room. Satellite television, VCR, and a library of books and games are included. There are ceiling fans in every room and on the screened porch.

Vacation on North Captiva: The island is bordered on both the Bay and Gulf by some of the worlds most extraordinary white sand beaches. The pristine beaches of Upper Captiva adorn the turquoise blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico and have been compared to
the finest beaches in the Caribbean.
Activitities: Shelling - Oh, the shells! The stories about the seashells of Upper Captiva Island are true. As far as the eye can see, the beach is literally covered with heaps of seashells of every size and description. You're witnessing the abundance of the sea, and of the natural world...Island style!
Swimming - relax in the warm waters of the Gulf, or enjoy sun bathing, swimming or the pool bar through our membership at the North Captiva Island Club.
Fishing - Think of the island as a giant drift boat; no matter where you drop a line, in the Gulf or Bay, you are bound to catch fish. Rental boats and fishing charters are also available.
Biking & hiking - there are no cars on the island, only shell-sand roads traveled by golf carts, bicycles and you. The southern two-thirds of the island is a wildlife preserve and can only be explored on foot.
Wildlife: It's not unusual to see river otters, racoons, opossums, and gopher tortoises roaming Upper Captiva. Playful dolphins are usually seen just a few yards off the
beach. Leaping mullet, tarpon and snook are regular visitors to these waters. Many ospreys live here, and you might even see bald eagles fishing for dinner. You'll pass a rookery island for brown pelicans and frigate birds on your way from the
mainland. Gopher Tortoises and Large Blue Heron are your neighbors on Upper Captiva.
