Vacation on Anna Maria Island: Anna Maria Island is a great family location with a seven mile stretch of white sand beach and is situated on the Southwest side of Tampa Bay. The island boasts many restaurants, a variety of shops and supermarkets, all accessible by the island's free trolley bus that runs the length of the island. There is a fishing pier where you can rent a rod for $2 per hour and have a meal and refreshments. You can walk for miles along the beach collecting shells, watching the bird life or just paddling in the aquamarine warm water. Sarasota with its Jungle Gardens, Mote Aquarium, restaurants and St Armands Circle is only 15 minutes away past the island of Longboat Key. Anna Maria is joined to the mainland by two bridges and there is a large shopping mall in the city of Bradenton 20 minutes away. All the amenities of the Tampa Bay/Clearwater area are within easy reach.
