Abersoch, on the south coast, is a popular sailing resort; Criccieth has the ruins of an historic castle, and at the end of the peninsula on the southern side is the Italianate village of Portmeirion, noted for its China and Porthmadog with perhaps the best preserved narrow gauge railway in the UK.
