Cottage in Northumberland, England: Cottage in Berwick upon Tweed, Northumberland - Our quality self catering accommodation is within minutes of the old ramparts, right in the heart of the old town, but amazingly secluded away from the street. A tiny but beautifully planted garden and verandah offer ideal outdoor space to relax, watch the birds and butterflies which are encouraged to the garden, and perhaps enjoy a barbecue in summer! On a clear day it is possible to see no fewer than three Northumberland coastal castles all at once from the ramparts! After extensive renovations, we can now at last offer an extremely comfortable choice of self catering facilities at 2 The Courtyard, providing what we think is an excellent space for you to 'chill out'. Maisonette: Sleeps up to 12 (7+5) + cot. The maisonette is on the first and second floor of the building. The accommodation includes 2 fully equipped kitchen areas, both including cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer space and washer / dryer with access to outside drying facilities. Shower room and family bathroom. Bedrooms - double bedroom and 3 bedded room on the first floor. On the second floor there is a twin bedroom with ensuite toilet & washbasin in addition to a large double bed settee in the studio living room. A small but attractively planted courtyard garden is available for guests use with sunny verandah on the first floor.

Notes: Breagha -
is part of No 2, The Courtyard, but is completely self-contained. This flat can be rented separately from the rest of the house. The studio flat includes a twin bedroom with ensuite toilet and washbasin. A large studio living room contains a good quality bed settee with futon mattress. Storage for bedding is tidily underneath the settee. A soft mattress 'topper' is provided for use if preferred. Feather pillows are offered as an alternative to synthetic filling. A fully equipped kitchen area is situated at one end of the second floor living room and is fitted with sink, gas cooker, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer. A good-sized family bathroom with bath, over-bath shower, washbasin and toilet leads from the second floor living room. A cot and high chair can be provided, but we feel that owing to the very limited outside space the accommodation is perhaps not ideal for young children between 13mths and 8yrs.

It is an ancient town, probably taking its name from an Anglo-Saxon barley farm in the area over a thousand years ago. It was a Royal Burgh of Scotland when Glasgow was little more than a village, and the leading Scottish commercial centre throughout the 13th Century. The famous fortifications were built in several stages, beginning in 1296, when Edward I of England first took the town from the Scots.
