Description of the Cottage in Northumberland, England
Cottage in Northumberland, England:
Here, high over the valley, after an amble along the river Allen, we often sit in the sun-warmed conservatory and watch the occasional car meander noiselessly far below. Our gaze may be caught by the wheeling lapwing, or the gentle sail of the hook-beaked curlew, over the calmly grazing sheep. Swinhope Burn gurgles along, mingling with nearby bird-song, and with the throaty call of the ewe for her young, as distant hooves clip-clop a percussive enchantment and long evening shadows melt the surrounding heathered hills into deepest purple.
Elpha Green Cottage sleeps 5 in three separate bedrooms (2 single beds; 1 single bed; 1 double bed). A cot is available upon request. All bed linen and towels are included in the price. Full central heating is included, naturally.
The living room incorporates a stone fireplace, upright piano, three piece contemporary suite, rocking chair, colour television and CD player, with immediate access to the sunporch and its panoramic views across the valley.
The new contemporary farmhouse-style kitchen features a gas hob and cooker, dishwasher and washing machine, fridge and freezer, microwave oven, toaster, electric kettle, and a six-place sit-down table with highchair.
The bathroom includes a full porcelain steel bathtub, toilet and sink, as well as wall-mounted electric heater, and shaver/electric toothbrush point, and normal radiator. Additionally, a full-service power shower in its own fully tiled enclosure is provided.
The peace and tranquility of this North Pennines valley are unsurpassed.

Information about the Cottage in Northumberland, England
The Synopsis: High in the North Pennines midway between Allendale and Allenheads, this 18th century stone cottage nestling on the banks of Swinhope burn, is approached along 800 metres of private road. A variety of free-range chickens add to the wild bird life which provides an additional ambience to this idyllically tranquil rural setting with its panoramic views of the East Allen valley. The surrounding area was in the 19th century the most important lead mining centre in Europe, the mines around Allenheads alone yielding one seventh of the total lead produced in Britain. This area is now known as 'England's Last Wilderness and has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a paradise for walkers, birdwatchers, industrial archaeologists or those just interested in 'the great outdoors'. Traces of the area's past can be discovered in Heritage Centres at nearby Allenheads and Nenthead, as well as at Killhope Wheel just across the moor.
