  • Description of the Guest House in East Sussex, England

Guest House in East Sussex, England:

A "green" guest house, environmentally friendly and serving organic food. In the heart of one of Victorian England's most perfectly preserved conservation areas, Paskins in Charlotte Street, promises you a stay that will evoke memories of a more gracious age. Running off Marine Parade, this tranquil street is lined with fine four storey buildings, built around 1810, with intricate cast iron balconies and gracious bow fronts. Halfway along, at no.s 18 & 19, you will find Paskins Town House, which is located in grade II listed buildings.
From the individually designed rooms, some with four poster beds, to the fresh flowers on your table in the tastefully appointed art deco breakfast room, you will find your every need anticipated and fulfilled. All of the rooms have hospitality trays, cruelty free toiletries, colour television, direct dial telephones, central heating and cosy duvets on the beds.

Our lighting uses mainly low energy bulbs to reduce power consumption. A supplier who guarantees that the third world producer is paid a fair trade price for his product provides the tea and coffee. The quality is excellent and the middleman has been excluded.

Information about the Guest House in East Sussex, England

Holiday in Brighton, East Sussex: Buzzing with energy, Brighton really rocks - where else can you take in the sea air and surf the net at cyber cafes, tread the boards of a Victorian pier, rollerblade along the esplanade or see pre-West End shows in the theatre or cutting edge comedy at intimate café-cabarets.
Shops for antiques, jewellery, designer clothes in the famous Lanes just 10 minutes walk from the Hotel. Or try the North Laine, the bohemian quarter with its fun mix of unusual shops.
Eat at the Le Marinade French restaurant where "angels dance on your tongue" or in a Chinese junk moored in the Marina or English's for fine sea food, or Terre Terre, some say the best Vegetarian restaurant in Britain, or ask us where to eat.

Beside the Sea: As young children in the 1950’s, the highlight of our year was our one-week annual holiday spent in Brighton or Bournemouth. The coach or car journey and our arrival at the boarding house – we always went back to the same one each year – were just the prelude to a week of fun and excitement. Bathing in the sea, building sand castles, donkey rides, Punch and Judy twice a day and evening coach excursions filled every moment and the week passed much too quickly.
It would seem that we would never have enjoyed those wonderful childhood holidays in the 1950s if our Georgian ancestors had not discovered the great benefits to be had from sea air and sea bathing, and if our Victorian ancestors had not made the seaside accessible to all and introduced new brands of fun and excitement. The ‘seaside’ has not been always with us – it was in fact a wonderful discovery, which took place over many years! Now go out and enjoy yourself.

Serving organic Food: Choice of fruit juices, fruits, apple puree, thick and creamy greek yoghurt, the milk comes from a farm in Brighton. There is also organic muesli, bran ond cereals. Toast, an organic brown or a white seedy bloomer both baked locally, home made marmalade, jams, peanut butter and choice of honeys including our own almond honey.
Choice of fair-trade tea or freshly ground coffee, decaffeinated coffee, hot chocolate. Ask about our large choice of herb and fruit teas.
Soya milk, organic preserves and vegan butter is available on request and today’s papers are on the side.
Most of our food is organic and wherever practical it comes from local Sussex farms. None of our food, where applicable, contains genetically modified products.
Our bacon is the real thing, bought from Old Spot Farm in Uckfield, pickled in brine for up to four weeks, then smoked over oak and hardwood. Sausages are always an adventure as we aim to have tried at least fifty different varieties in a year.
