Holiday in Travers, Neuchatel: The village of Travers (altitude 770 meters / approximately 1200 inhabitants) is right on the transit line from Bern - Neuchatel - Pontarlier - Dijon to Paris. It is situated in a Jura valley (the Val-de-Travers) between the French border and the lake of Neuchatel.
Villa Moncalme is situated at about 10 minutes on foot from the railway station and from the village centre, where all facilities can be found (bakeries, butcher's, food store, book store, doctor's, pharmacy, bank, post office, several restaurants, etc a dairy which offers local specialities, as well as a railway station with an official exchange office and a Mini-shop open everyday till late in the evening). Other "large" stores, specialised shops, bars, dancings, etc can be found in Couvet (4 km/2,5 miles) and in Fleurier (9 km/5,5 miles). For emergencies: a doctor and a chemist in Travers; a hospital and a dentist in Couvet (4 km/2,5 miles).

Picturesque village of Travers: Located between the French border (the town of Pontarlier) and the lake of Neuchatel, the Val-de-Travers is full of natural curriosities and astounding landscapes, made of fiery mountain streams, secret caves, narrow gorges, peaceful rivers and superb forests.
Nature-lovers and walkers will be quickly seduced by the striking beauties of the landscape, a combination of forests, water, and mountains, as well as by the opulence of wild life and flora. The particulary varied topography allows the practice of many summer and winter sports.
In summer, a network of cycle tracks and quiet roads enables you to cycle easily and in safety through the whole area. Mountain-bikers are able to use specially marked trails and devote themselves to their favourite sport. As for walkers, they can visit the whole region thanks to the numerous pedestrian and hiking trails which cross the Val-de-Travers and the surrounding mountains

Leisure activities: leisure activities in the summer : horse-riding, surfing on the lake of Tailleres, river fishing, tennis, hang-gliding, climbing, etc.
In winter, 120 km (75 miles) of cross-country skiing and hiking trails enable you to discover a natural scenery which has remained intact. There is also downhill skiing in the "Buttes - La Robella - Chasseron" area (1450 meters altitude).

Rates for Christmas/New Year, Easter: CHF 700 per week.

Prices include household linen, bathroom and kitchen towels, parking place, electricity, heating, hot water (included in price up to 50 liters of hot water) and the use of the garden furniture in summer. As our house is partly heated by solar energy, hot water supply is not unlimited.

As you arrive in Travers, the staff of the train station (open for every train) will gladly show you the way (10-15 minutes on foot to Villa Moncalme). Another possibility: inform us about your arrival time and we will be happy to welcome you at the train station and help you carry your luggage.
Visitor's tax and end cleaning are not included.
