Valley of Ocon holiday house in La Rioja is rented out as a whole house. It is a traditional holiday house of solid construction, which was built in stone and masonry "sillarejo" in the XIX century for a cattle farmer's family.
The central stairs, with natural light from above, divides the house into four floors, three of them for guest's use. Downstairs is the common area, which includes a hallway, toilet, kitchen-dining room with fireplace, a larder and a living room with an exit to a garden. The bedrooms with their bathrooms and two small reading rooms with tourist information are on the 1st and 2nd floors.
Gassedat Guesthouse is designed for sixteen people, distributed into eight double rooms. East-oriented, on each of the two floors, there are two bedrooms, which share a fully equipped bathroom, located between the rooms. They make up two small intimate modules.
The festivals dedicated to Santa Bárbara, Patron Saint of the village are held the last weekend of July. In Spring there is a lovely pilgrimage reuniting the seven villages with the neighbours walking behind their seven saint's images to spend the day together and picnic in the country.

Holiday in Las Ruedas de Ocón, La Rioja: Las Ruedas de Ocón is one of the seven villages making up the Valley of Ocón.
It is located on the slopes of the sierra de la Hez, on the lowland of Mountain Valdecabrones. The sierra de La Hez is a small mountainous area of a high ecological value. Its highest peak is 1388 meter high. Las Ruedas has a wide overview. In the sunny days we can see the Pyrenees. In the Ravine of Las Ruedas heading to the Sierra, the walker will find a luxurious beech and oak wood.
In the surroundings the paths and old roads used in the past by our grandparents to go from village to village are still well preserved and depending on the season we can pick mushrooms, wild berries, flowers and aromatic and medicinal plants along these paths.
There are not any shops in Las Ruedas and the church, bar and guesthouse are the social meeting points. The inhabitants of Las Ruedas are most of them native from the village and this is why the village still preserves its purest customs.
Sports: In the village of Las Ruedas de Ocón you can enjoy a pelota court: a traditional sport in the north of Spain which is played however there are celebrations. Pelota matches are deeply rooted in the regions of La Rioja. However hiking along the many paths and ways extending over the Valley of Ocón and the Sierra La Hez is the main activity because of the privileged situation of the Ruedas de Ocón. The 5 main routes, which are signposted, are the following ones:
1. The villages: La Villa, Santa Lucía, Pipaona, Aldealobos, Oteruelo and Las Ruedas.
2. Cogote el Alto and las Ruedas.
3. Cabimonteros and Carbonera.
4. El Mirador de las Alpujarras: Munilla and Arnedillo.
5. San vicente and Juvera
There are maps indicating the differences in level, the distances, times, vegetation, the geological shapes and historical and cultural information of all the routes.
History: Over history, this has been a region crossed by the natural routes of the Valley of the Ebro. It has been inhabited since the prehistory. Pre-roman archeological sites in El Redal, Parte la Peña. Land of Berrons and Romans. In the Middle Ages the Castle of Ocón was the place where the Isigodo king Leovigildo stayed overnight.
The valley was conquered by the Muslims in the VIII century. It was conquered again by Sancho el Mayor of Navarra (1004-1035). It finally became a part of the Kingdom of Castilla in the XII century. In 1774 the king Alfonso VIII granted the municipal charter. Today, the region is peaceful and tranquil, full of traditions, legends and friendly people.

Please, reserve by telephone. When half of the payment is received, your reservation is secure. The remaining half must be paid on your arrival. We don't have extra beds. Children, except for babies, should be counted for the booking.

Arrival time should be after 2pm. And departure on the final day before 12am.
