Holiday house in Quijas, Cantabria - Our holiday house, Vinueva is situated in the village of Quijas in the Cantabrian Autonomous Region. It is about a stately home which was built about a middle of the century XIX. In the year of 1986 it was purchased by the actual owners and a few years later the owners themselves initiated a conscientous rehabilitation till the year of 2003, the opening date of the house Vinueva. When the rehabilitation started the aim was trying to respect the original structure of the building and to conserve the look of the stately home existed 150 years ago. To carry out the works they mainly used materials as the wood and the stone. They tried to recover all the original materials too, as the typical bricks of the constructions at the time wich gives a warm ambient to some areas of the interior. Refurbishing the house, the roof of the building was one of the major challanges, because it was the area where the rooms were situated. However, the good quality of the then woods made possible to conserve the structure of the roof such as it was before.
Vinueva has 6 spacious rooms, all equipped with complete bathroom, heating and bath products. Situated in the loft of the building they are all very luminous, thanks to the large windows.

Places of interest: Santanilla del Mar, situated 12 kilometers from 'Vinueva', is a beautiful medieval village. A simply walk on its cobbled streets will transport us to past centuries and will make us to discover the countless treasures of the village of Santanilla del Mar. Santanilla is just like a big museum in the open air: the majority of the stately houses and palaces was converted to expositions and museums, so it is possible to see them. It is worth the trouble visit the zoo and of course the Caves of Altamira, known as "Capilla Sixtina" of the art of the quaternary. Torrelavega is the next most important city in Cantabria. It is just 10 minutes from the farmhouse 'Vinueva'.
Santander, capital of the Cantabrian Autonomous Region, is another city which must be visited. El Palacio de la Magdalena (the Magdalena Palace), El Sardinero, Cabo Mayor, Museo Oceonagráfico (Oceanography Museum) and a great many possibilities are offered to spend your time.
