Villarrubia farmhouse in Cordoba, Andalucia - 'Cuevas del pino'Cuevas del Pino is a 30-hectare farm which has specialised in ecological agriculture since 1985. The farm lies in the shelter of Cordova’s Sierra Morena (Dark Mountains), forming part of the Plains of the River Guadalquivir. It is surrounded by irrigated fields, on a site which for long was occupied by Roman villas and Arab orchards.
The farmhouse, which is the home of the owners of the farm, is a traditional building complemented by patios, coach-houses, paddocks, stables, stores, henhouses, and so on. It is surrounded by a hectare of woodland with palm trees, “almezos” (Celta australis), cypresses, walnut and mulberry trees and many species of Mediterranean flowering plants, as well as a zone of fruit trees where chickens peck at the ground under the hooves of the horses.
The swimming pool, in the middle of the garden, enjoys the beauty and freshness of its surroundings, which also include a shady arbour where you can picnic in peace and quiet. The huge caves, which once were Arab stone quarries, give the farm-yard itself a special and very attractive atmosphere.
We have two cottages, known as 'The Sun' and 'The Moon', which offer you the opportunity to do absolutely nothing but dream. 'El Sol' is part of the main farmhouse and has sleeping accommodation for 5-7 persons; 'La Luna' can sleep 2-4.
