The Villamartin Plaza is within walking distance of the apartment and offers 20 international bars and restuarants, a bank, medical centre, shops and supermarket. Within a short drive the beaches are plentiful and vary from vast expanses of sand to small pebble coves. You can take a boat ride to the island of Tabarca where scuba diving is a pleasure, or sail along the coast. A 15 minute drive brings you to the town of Torrevieja which has everything you would expect from a thriving spanish holiday resort. The town lies along a broad coastal plain with its face to the mediterranean and its back to the nature reserve of the lagoons of La Mata which is a habitat for numerous protected species of birds such a flamingo. The town also boasts a marina, aquapark and go-karting. There is an abundance of shops, bars and restuarants so suit all tastes.

Culture: The towns of Orihuela, Elche and Murcia offer a slice of spanish life beautiful architecture, museums, great cafes and restaurants and many shops. They all have numerous squares and parks, to while away a few hours and watch the pace of spanish life. All these towns spring into life in the early evenings, Elche also has the famous gardens containing containing the largest collection of Palm's in Europe. Beaches The Orihuela beaches, La Zenia, Cabo Roig, Campoamor are the cleanest and safest on the Costa Blanca. The nearest, La Zenia was voted the safest of them all. Pool The Communal pool is for residents only and approx 200 yards down the slope in the direction you face from the balcony. You'll need a key to enter which is supplied.

Golf Complex and amenities: Villamartin golf course is a 10 minute walk away. It has hosted the Mediterranean Open and is probably the best known course in the area. It is a medium-difficulty course compised of scenic fairways and excellent greens. Within a 10 minute drive of Villamartin there are three more courses Campoamor, Las Ramblas and La Finca. The plaza in villamartin is worth exploring on your arrival. The supermarket is outside the front entrance and has eveything you need for your stay. International and local newspapers, telephones, pharmacy, and cash machines are available and you will immediately notice there are enough restuarants, cafes and bars to satisfy all tastes. http://www.golfvillamartin.com

Markets: Torrevieja and Guardamar have street markets and there is a sunday market just 20 minutes away at Campo de Guardamar. Take the N332 towards Alicante through torrevieja and La Mata until you see Promos Mobil shop on the left. Just beyond that as you climb uphill take the left turn towards Montesinos. A few hundred yards down the road on your left is the 'Mercadillo' - an open air market set in the orange groves. You can but anything you want and have a good value lunch from traditional Paella, or if your missing home a toasted tea-cake and a pot of tea!
