17th c Manor House Bed & Breakfast with pool in Douro Valley - B&B in Casal de Loivos is located on the top of a hill, overlooking the Douro river.
It has been builted in 1658 and belongs, since 1733, to the Pereira de Sampayo family, at present represented by the actual owner. With a truly privileged situation it has one of the most dazzling sceneries all over Portugal and unanimously considered as the best view over the Douro Valley. When the Portuguese Republic has been implanted, this House closed for about 30 years after what became almost a ruin. Only in 1989 started being totally restored and 30 months after, this huge job was finally accomplished. On this recuperation, done with enormous scruple, the preservation of the original draft has been a permanent worry as well as endowing the House with all the modern comfort.
There are 6 elegant rooms (all with private bathroom and all heated). They are ornamented with simplicity and good taste, making our gests feel at home even with a totally Douro's atmosphere. Thhere is a lounge with TV, fireplace.
Outside there is guest's exclusive swimming pool and a panoramic terrace, own vineyard.
