A FEW MINUTES WALK FROM THE DRENTHE/FRIES FOREST AND NATIONAL PARK

Diever, Drenthe and the surrounding area: Diever village, located at the southwesterly tip of the province of Drenthe (approx 2 hrs east of Amsterdam) is adjacent to the largest forest in the Netherlands - perfect for walking cycling and horse riding. Also renowned for its Shakespearian plays held in the open air theatre during the Summer months, Diever is at the heart of unspoilt rural Dutch countryside.
Among many near attractions, Emmen Zoo, Gnomeland, Giethoorn (the Venice of the Netherlands) and the towns of Hoogeveen (20 minutes), Assen (30 minutes), Emmen (45 minutes) and the city of Groningen (40 minutes) are easily accessible. During July/August you can take one of the 3 forest buses which wind their way 6 days a week through 14 of the small local villages. A Dutch National Tourist office is also nearby with a wealth of information on the surrounding area.
Location of Diever: Diever is easily accessible fron both Amsterdam Schiphol (2 hours) and Groningen Eelde (30 minutes) airports. A car is recommended (rental cars also available at both airports) although public transport (bus) just a few minutes walk away, with links to the surrounding villages and towns. Nearest train station at Beilen (20 minutes away) with direct services to Groningen (30 minutes) and Amsterdam Airport (2 hours).
