The Rivetto family: In 1902 the Rivetto family founded their winery in Alba, capital of the renowned Langarola region. Nearly forry years later, in 1939, Ercole, the family’s patriarch, sealed the winery’s fate when he purchased to estate of Loirano of Vassallo counts. The land has been prized for many generations. As a token of esteem and hospitality, the Falletti family, owners of the Langhe property, best owed upon their cousins, the Vassallo Counts, this rich land located in Loirano, a region synonymous with age-old quality. The methods of preparing the grapes are the result of four generations of wine making. Evolving tschnology combined with the region’s fertile soil and the wineyard’s mineral deposits work in perfect harmony.
Sinio: The town’s houses are gathered around the parish churchand the ruins of the castle, once owned by the marquis Del Carretto di Monforte and later by the the count Vassallo di Costigliole. The church, like many others in the Langhe, was designed by the architect Rangone and built in 1700. It’s dedicated to saint Frontinian. Interesting is also the fraternity of the Battuti, now a multifunctional center. Sinio is famous for its torrone-making firms. The fair, dedicated to the patron, is held on the second Sunday in August.
Town of Serralunga d'Alba: The center of Serralunga, a typical medieval town, has changed a little since the old times. From the castle it’s possible to see its structure, of houses built around the castle; this way it was easy for the people to run and take shelter there in case of war. The castle was restored thanks to Luigi Einaudi and it is today one of the few castles in the Langhe that can be visited. Its tall towers remind of the need to look for the Saracins and to communicate with the other castles through light signals. Serralunga is one of the best places for the making of Barolo wine. The ton fair is held on the third Sunday in August.
