Holiday on Lake Simpele, Parikkala, East Finland: Surrounded by the municipalities of Rautjärvi, Punkaharju, and Saari, Parikkala is situated in East Finland close to the Russian border. The towns of Savonlinna and Imatra are not far away, either, but if you need services such as the health centre, banks, the post office, shops, kiosks and liquor store you do not have to leave Parikkala itself. For outdoor hobbies: • Easy-to-reach hike trails and cross-country ski tracks in the lush Carelian forest, nice resting places where you can light a fire (for instance a Lappish kota 1.5 km from the cottages) • Riding by trained riding-horse • A network of cycle paths, canoeing routes with marked landing places volleyball and badminton courts and a giant trampoline, all free snowshoeing • Siikalahti Bay a good ten kilometres away is one of the finest bird-watching areas in the interior of Finland good for fishing, berry and mushroom picking • In winter, sled tours with snowmobiles • Seine fishing tours.
Tours: Seine fishing in winter (appr. 15 December to 31 Marc: For 2 to 10 people, watching from lake ice the final phase of seine fishing, tour by snowmobile-drawn sled, duration: 1.5 to 2 hrs, price: 20€ per person. Be sure to wear warm clothing! Weather reservation and ice conditions reservation in winter. (If there is a lot of slush on the ice, the snowmobile cannot pull the sled.

Tours: Snowshoeing in winter (appr. 15 December to 10 April): For groups of 5 to 10 people, duration: about 2 to 3 hrs; longer tours by arrangement. Outfit: warm clothes and good, warm shoes, price: 22€ per person (incl. guiding, snowshoes and stop by an open-air fire). By arrangement a camp meal in a Lappish kota (teepee) in the forest for a separate payment.
