Holiday in Porec, Istria: Porec is an ideal holiday location for the range of local attractions and excursions including a fast catamaran service to Venice. The beaches around Porec old town are wonderful and a boat from next to the Marina goes to the island of Sveti Nikola. Alternatively a walk south from the marina heads along a rocky coastline shaded by pines trees.
Porec combines an ancient Roman and Mediaeval town with more recent holiday hotel developments. The old town is largely built from the local stone with narrow cobbled streets, beautiful Venetian houses and frescoes. The Basilica of Euphrasis, a World Heritage site is a 6th century Byzantine building with fabulous mosaics. Its bell tower is well worth the climb for the views it offers from the top.
