COSTAMBAR the multinational community where "Casa Obear" is located, is a 20 to 25 minute drive from the Puerto Plata airport. After entering the gate, the first road to the right (Gurabito) intersects Guayacanes and another right takes you to Casa Obear at the intersection with Bermejo. The gated community extends to the Puerto Plata harbor entrance.

Notes: A huge American style kitchen worthy of a cruise ship has a pass through counter to the living/dining area where majestic louver doors open to the ocean panorama. The portico entry is a popular place for breakfast, relaxation and exposure to the soft breeze while absorbing the colorful landscape and port activity. A very large main floor bedroom with king size bed, queen sofa bed, bath, private balcony and work station is a distinct living area.
Upstairs, the master bedroom suite with king size bed includes a queen size sofa bed for additional sleeping accommodations, perhaps for children. A luxurious bath has a shower, Roman tub and bidet. The upstairs family room entertainment center has 2 comfortable couches - one a queen size sofa bed - TV & VCR, a work station and truly spectacular ocean view. There is access to a sun terrace and also a separate roofed terrace for multiple uses.

Holiday in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic: Some of the most interesting scenery in this vast Caribbean island is west of Puerto Plata. A pleasant way to see a part of it is to drive to Luperon about an hour from Casa Obear, through the picturesque countryside and villages on your way to a final destination - the place where Columbus landed and built the first settlement in the New World. Savor the historic moment, plan some time on the beach and later perhaps a look at the small boats at anchor in the Luperon marina to finish the adventure. In the other direction, a 15 minute drive and half way to Sosua is Playa Dorada, the hotel complex with casinos, discos, plaza center and Robert Trent Jones golf course. In Sosua the popular horseshoe beach provides snorkeling, scuba diving & other water sports. In Cabarete, 15 minutes further east, windsurfing is the big attraction. Enjoy a drink or lunch at the beach while watching the surfers’ antics and their colorful sails aimlessly cavorting. Golf: Should a round of golf at the spectacular Playa Grande course be your focus, the delightful ocean surf at the famous beach provides fun for others in your group. The Playa Grande trip takes you through Rio San Juan, a 90 minute ocean drive from Casa Obear.
