The beach walks are amazing. Kilometres and kilometres of unspoilt, pristine dune coastline along the Indian Ocean. Go bird-watching at the Umvoti River Nature Conservancy. Meet the fishing boats returning from a day's fishing. Play golf at Prince's Grant Golf Course (One of the Top 20 golf courses in South Africa) or Umhlali Country Club (where the hazards include avoiding the zebra, monkeys and indigenous buck species that inhabit the course), visit Crocodile World, visit the site of King Shaka's death and experience some of the history of the Zulus, or just laze on the deck watching for dolphins and whales (there is an abundance of whales off the coast during our winter months and they are clearly visible from the deck of The Ritz)

Holiday in Blythedale Beach, KwaZulu-Natal: Blythedale Beach is situated 72 kilometres north of Durban on the Dolphin Coast. It is a small community with excellent beaches on an unspoilt coastline. Fishing, musselling, and crayfishing (with the appropriate licences) are excellent, whale-watching from July to November is exceptional and there is a huge population of bottle-nosed dolphins that are resident year round.
There is direct private access onto a quiet child-friendly beach (lots of rock pools and gullies at low tide!), as well as the main swimming beach (shark-netted and has life guards in season) which is only 100 m to the North for those who are more adventurous and want to try their hand at surfing or body-surfing. There are lovely walks down to the Umvoti River Conservancy which is very well-known in birding circles for the large variety of bird life and it is one of the few breeding sites of the rare red-winged pratincole.

Golf in Blythedale Beach, KwaZulu-Natal: There are some outstanding golf courses in the area, Prince's Grant is 7km's away, Umhlali Country Club is 20km's away with Port Zimbali a little further. Excellent shopping is available in Ballito (20km's to the South) whilst the bustling ethnic town of Stanger (site of Shaka's Memorial) is only 7km's inland. Blythedale provides easy access to the Lake St Lucia World Heritage Site (one hours drive North) with the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve a little further away. There is a crocodile farm at Sheffield Beach (15km's to the South).

For bookings of more than 4 days in low leason we offer a 10% discount. For bookings of more than 3 days a cleaning service must be taken - this service is a daily service and is paid separately upon arrival. Rates are either R65 for a half day or R80 for a full day service.

Pets are welcome by arrangement (the property is fully walled).

A R1 000 refundable damage deposit is held and returned to you upon your departure once the property has been checked for any damages.
