Holiday at Lake Taupo: There are many relaxing activities to do in Taupo, as it is famous for
its trout fishing both by boat and fly fishing on the many rivers of the
area. Hiking and walking are a popular way to take in the breathtaking
scenery. There are many walks and tracks around Acacia Bay to enjoy the
lake and native scenery. Take a stroll down Lions Walk, a cobbled
pathway which runs from the Boat Harbour to 5 mile Bay.
There are thermal valleys and hot pools, sporting venues, many lake
cruises and you can take a charter or hire boats. Taupo is well known
for its excellent shopping and lots of space and open clean air. The
population of Taupo is only 16,000 which increase to 50,000 in summer
period. For winter there is snow skiing on the mountains at the end of
the lake.
