Holiday in Devon: The friendly owners, who live in the attached farmhouse, encourage you to enjoy the beautiful walks through the wood and farmland down to the river Tamar.
On warm summer evenings you may catch sight of one of the many badgers and foxes living on the farm, and even deer can sometimes be seen drinking in the pond.
Bird watchers will enjoy the sight of buzzards soaring over the valley; there are also nuthatches, longtailed tits, green woodpeckers and spotted woodpeckers to be seen.
Golf & nearby activity: Rumleigh Farm is situated on the Bere Peninsula, between the Tamar and Tavy rivers, and is ideal for bird watching. The Bere Peninsula Cycle Route provides some 9 miles of cycling terrain. Bere Alston is 1.5 miles away, for shops and pub. The championship golf course at St Mellion is only 15 minutes drive away. Other activities offered locally include lake fishing (3 miles), golf at Yelverton, canoeing in Tavistock and horse riding at Mary Tavy (12 miles). Plymouth (10 miles) offers visitors the chance to try their hand at swimming, ice-skating and discovering the city's hidden defences at Crownhill Fort. There is also the historic Barbican, site of the Mayflower Steps, departure point of the Pilgrim Fathers. The Theatre Royal and the Arts Centre in Plymouth, and The Wharf in Tavistock offer cultural and light entertainment.
Other attractions: The National Trust properties at Buckland Abbey and Cotehele lie close by and The Garden House is only 10 minutes drive away. Further afield the Eden Project is only an hour's drive. The surrounding Tamar Valley is very rich in the heritage of tin, copper and arsenic mining during the nineteenth and early twentieth century. The Victorian mining village and quay at Morwellham is a short distance from Rumleigh Farm. For those seeking beaches, coves and fishing villages, the coast of South Devon and South East Cornwall is easily reached by car, or by train from Bere Alston station, along one of the most scenic railway lines in the country. This line also gives easy access to Calstock and Cotehele on the Cornish side of the Tamar.
