Hillview Crescent runs along the slopes of the Whitfield Range about 4km north of Cairns CBD. The suburb of Whitfield and neighbouring Edgehill are loved for their cool breezy elevation, the traditional timber houses, the lush gardens and many wonderful old trees that give the streets a scented and leafy ambience.
Hillview is a timber house in a beautiful garden of colourful and scented ginger, lipstick palms, cycads and ferns.
A large deck at the front faces the Whitfield Range and a covered deck behind overlooks the swimming pool and garden. The TV room/hall opens onto the front deck and the garden sitting room opens onto the pool deck and gas BBQ. The main bedroom (with ensuite) opens onto the garden deck. There is a second bathroom and separate loo. The kitchen looks out to the garden and is equipped with quality saucepans, sharp knives and decent cutlery, plates and bowls. A large double fridge/freezer is backed up by a bar fridge. There is also a laundry with top loading w/machine and dryer.
Towels and bed linen are supplied.
All bedrooms and the main room have air-conditioners but guests should note that the weekly electricity allowance is $35 which does not allow for continuous air-conditioning. Extra electricity costs may be $10+ per day. Extra charge for electricity is only likely to occur from Dec- April.

5 min from the attractive and friendly village of Edgehill (good cafes, Cairns best vegetable shop and delicatesse, hairdresser/beauty salon, wine shop) and the famous Flecker Botanical Gardens (fabulous tropical gardens with a significant collection of plants. Great place for lunch or a coffee).
Cairns Golf club 15 min. drive, Paradise Palms 25 min drive.
The Esplanade Lagoon (swimming pool) and Marlin Marina are adjacent to the CBD - only 10 minutes drive. All cruises to the Great Barrier Reef leave from the Marlin Marina.

•Botanical Gardens. These marvelous gardens display an extraordinary collection of tropical rainforest plants including many rare palms. Surrounding them are the larger parkland gardens and Cairns Centenary Lakes. A boardwalk also leads through a natural palm and pandanus swamp. Two walking tracks over the Whitfield Range begin here.

Notes to the Rates of the Holiday House in Cairns, Queensland
Up to 6 people - $1560 per week. Less than a week (minimum 3 nights) $260 per night. Extra person using the sofa bed - $15 per night
Stays longer than a week are on a weekly pro-rata basis.
A deposit/bond of $300 paid within 2 weeks secures a booking and the balance must be paid at least 6 weeks before arrival. A refund (less $50 admin fee) will be paid only if we can secure another booking. Travel insurance is recommended.
The house should be kept and left clean and tidy. Bed linen should be left on the beds and towels hung up. The $300 bond will be kept or deducted from if the house is left in a state that would entail more than 4 hours cleaning. The BBQ must be cleaned.
There is a once a week visit for garden/pool maintenance which takes about an hour. Guests will be phoned the day before.
Damage and breakages have to be paid for.
Rates for stays of 6 weeks or longer from $920 per week plus a bond.
The house must be cleaned on a regular basis and must be left clean and tidy on departure. A bond of $1000 will be returned to you when you leave, providing that the house is left clean and tidy. The bond is also to cover any damage beyond normal wear.
