Mill house cottage in the Loire Valley with private fishing - The 18th century Moulin lies in fifteen hectares of valley and woods, just outside the village of Chapelle-Huon in the Sarthe area of the Loir. The Moulin, once part of the château de Courtanvaux estate 3 kms away, has a five hectare lake fed by a small river, which has good daytime and night time fishing and is reserved exclusively for our guests. We have been careful to keep the original warmth and charm of the moulin, while restoring it with all modern comforts and there is a pretty garden with garden furniture through which a stream flows, then forms a waterfall into the lake. The cottage at one end of our house is completely private and independent. It has a rustic, beamed living room/dining room with satellite television, furnished with country furniture. The kitchen is entirely equipped and includes a dishwasher and washing machine, a cooker and a fridge/freezer. 'Welcome' provisions are provided with enough basics for your first breakfast.
The double bedroom is decorated in the 18th century style and the bathroom has a shower, washbasin and wc.
Upstairs has a suite suitable for a family, also decorated in an 18th century style, with a bedroom for a couple and one or two children, a small sitting room area and a bathroom with bath.
The village of Bessé-sur-Braye (2kms) has all essential shops and facilities with a market on Saturday mornings. Saint-Calais (7kms) has a greater choice of shops and two markets a week, a small one on Thursday morning and a big farmers market on Sunday morning in the old covered marketplace, where you can find fresh farm eggs and butter, organic fruit and vegetables, meat and locally made cider and apple juice or rillettes and pâtés, delicious with a fresh baguette!
Please supervise young children at all times near the lake and the river!

Tours, Blois and some of the great Loire châteaux are less than an hour's drive away, Le Mans with its lovely old centre, famous for Grand Prix motor racing and in June, 24 hour racing, is 50 kms from here.

Notes: Fishing: The lake has carp( from between 4 and 34 pounds), perch, tench, pike (several specimens of about 32 pounds) and roach. There are a maximum of four places to fish from to ensure a peaceful environment. The small lakeside hut built of wood with a tiled roof has a fireplace and there are secure facilities with a wc and storage for boots, coats and equipment. There is lots of wildlife here and some lovely walks along the lakeside path and others up into the hill above it. There is no charge and no permit is necessary.

Holiday in the Loire Valley: There are several reasonably priced restaurants within an easy drive, where you can try some good local dishes and Loire wines. The Benedictine abbey at Solesmes is worth a visit to listen to the Gregorian chants as is the village of Malicorne, which is devoted to making pottery. Chambord, Blois and Cheverny are just some of the beautiful Loire châteaux worth seeing.

If there are more than 2 anglers in the party, there is an extra charge of €100 per angler Weekends (minimum 2 nights) €245 Regrettably, animals are not accepted
A deposit of 30% is requested on booking with the remainder paid on arrival.
