Information about the Holiday House in Isle of Jura, Argyll & Stirling
Holiday on Isle of Jura: The Isle of Jura, although one of the larger of the hebridean islands, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful. Almost 30mls long and 8mls wide at its widest point and with a tiny population of around 200 this must surely be one of the last true wildernesses. Its rugged landscape is dominated by the Paps of Jura, which soar to around 2500ft, and whose dramatic outline can be seen from miles around. The uninhabited west coast which is only accessible by foot, has a fascinating coastline where raised beaches and huge caves are numerous.
Wildlife and Activities: The Isle of Jura abounds with wildlife. There are around 6000 red deer living here, wild goats, otters, golden eagles (and ocassionally sea eagles) to name but a few. There are literally hundreds of fresh water lochs, some bigger than others, but most of them are naturally filled with brown trout. Jura's mild climate, warmed by the gulf stream, is favourable to a wide and varied selection of flowers and fauna. This is paradise for those with a passion for fresh air and the great outdoors, for those who like to breath clean air, relax on safe and virtually empty sandy beaches when the sun shines, or for those who want to get away from the stresses of modern living. You have never experienced true tranquility until you have visited this island.
