Description of the Chalet in Fribourg, Switzerland
Chalet in Fribourg, Switzerland:
Our traditional, wooden, detached chalet, built in the local architectural style, is the ideal base for your holiday in Switzerland and offers an atmosphere of relaxation and plenty of opportunity for recreation. The chalet is on two storeys and, as is usual for chalets, the bedrooms are on the lower floor and the living area on the upper floor. However, due to the chalet being built on a hill-side the entrance is on the upper floor.
On the upper floor has an open plan sitting and dining area leading onto a large balcony. The large fireplace provides a focal point for the sitting room, which is well furnished with large, comfortable sofas and a chair. The 'studio', with its own separate entrance, has two sets of full size bunk-beds and an en-suite washroom with WC. There is also a chest of drawers and a hi-fi. It is ideal for older children who want a little independence from parents – or vice versa!
Garden offer glorious views of the surrounding valley and mountains

The water is automatically heated, filtered and cleaned using an ultra-violet light system, fortunately meaning very little chlorine is needed.
Information about the Chalet in Fribourg, Switzerland
Climate, ideal for downhill and cross country skiing: You can visit Switzerland any time throughout the year. Summer lasts roughly from June to September, and offers the most pleasant climate for outdoor pursuits. In winter the area is ideal for both downhill and cross country skiing. The beginner or nursery slopes are within sight of the chalet, some 500m away. The main lift is a funicular railway and is just a further hundred metres. The skiing area is from 1100m to 2000m and there are a variety of lifts from T-bars, buttons and a large cable car. The pistes cater for all standards of skier from green to black runs, but with the majority being blue and red.
Plenty to do: There is plenty to do within an hour’s drive of the chalet, more than enough to keep you amused for the duration of your stay.
In the valley below Moléson lies the pretty, ancient, hill-top town of Gruyères. Encompassed by an outstanding chateau and ramparts, it boasts some very pleasant restaurants and boutiques.
Jazz and Film Festivals: About 10km away is Bulle, also with a chateau at its centre, providing all the normal amenities of a small Swiss town, together with a folk museum, art gallery and a local market on Thursday mornings.
To the east the Jaun Pass, the most mountainous in the Fribourg Alps, leads to the Jungfrau and Interlaken regions in the Bernese Oberland. To the south east lies Gstaad and Chateau d'Oex, favoured by the rich jet-set, and good for skiing, walking, or taking in the beautiful scenery. Bordering Lake Geneva are the towns of Vevey, home to Charlie Chaplin, Montreux, famous for the jazz and film festivals, Lausanne and Geneva.
